"BEEP. BEEP. BEEP." I rolled over, hit my alarm and wondered what crazy had set it for the middle of the night. Then I remembered that it was my fault as I committed to the girls to do a sunrise climb up the hill behind our property. (Why do things always seem like such great ideas the night before? ;))
We started back to the foot of the mountain in the quiet dawn. As a result of the rainy season, everything is green and beautiful, but that also means the normal route was hidden with tall grass and weeds. After a quick prayer for protection from snakes, we decided to proceed.

Starting off on the path. The girl you probably don't recognize in this picture is Sara, a friend of Steph's, who accompanied us for our journey. She said she likes snakes, so I was praying that if one had to be found, she would be the one to find it. ;) (Only one snake was seen, but the snake was apparently intimidated by a mob of screaming and pointing girls. I didn't even receive the "blessing" of seeing it. Bummer.)

Because hungry girls=grouchy girls, we enjoyed PBJ's at the top.

Lili was very happy to arrive.

Jaqueline and Karla

Lupita finds a rock that looked to her like a driver's seat. I thought we might not make it back n time for breakfast due to her excitement to "drive."

Paola lifts Yaneli as they cross the "mighty river."
As I sat at the top, watching the sun come over the mountains, I realized once again how often I may be reluctant to do or try something because it seems like too much work or just not worth the effort. Once at top, I look around me and realize I would have been robbed of the view because of my own laziness or my desire to do what is comfortable and known. Praise to our God who never promised us comfort, but did promise His Faithfulness and Goodness while on the journey.

Hi Ames,
There's a lot of truth in that last sentence! Thanks for sharing your hike with us!
We love you,
Dad & Mom
You were VERY smart to take a snack along. Hungry kids DO make grouchy kids and hungry adults can be edgy too! At least that's the way it works at our house.
Have a fantastic weekend!

Amy!
