Jonah and The Big Fish and Other VBS News

The Lord has once again done exceedingly and abundantly beyond what we thought would happen...Praise Him!

We are busting at the seams!

The kids really seem to enjoy the singing.

Jonah and The Big Fish

Each VBS class has at least one male to be the "police officer." Poor Limón agreed to be our 9,10 and 11 year-old boy police man. He has turned into our class' gopher, running errands when he needs to and dressing up as Bible characters on command. We are in the "yellow bodega" and sit everywhere we can fit. Surprisingly, the boys have been well- behaved.

Today during the story of Jonah, we drew straws to see who had caused this great storm to come upon our tiny ship filled with 50 boys. Jonah (aka Limón) drew the short straw...

So of course we had to put him in "time out" while we decided what to do. We had to to echar him out of the boat...

And into the jaws of a giant tire. Jonah prays in the belly of the desk/tire and was later vomited up with great gusto, including green streamers spewing from his mouth. It was gross. The boys loved it.

Seth's Great Heroic Bee-Conquering Adventure

So, I wasn't there but as the story from Denise goes, the bus was full of screaming kids and it came upon a pick-up truck parked across the road with a man, lying on the ground in front of it. They noticed the GIANT swarm of bees and Seth ran off the bus to see if the man was still alive. I am a little unclear of details but something about screaming kids, starting a smoke fire, lots and lots of bees and Seth escaped it all with only one bee sting. Some bees boarded the bus through the windows, but miraculously, not one child was stung.

Crazy, huh? Seth told me that we couldn't start calling him Superman or anything.

Hey Suz,

In answer to your question about the man, I would say today he is definitely out of commission as Seth's one sting (right between his eyes really swelled over night.) The man was driving in his truck with the windows down when the bees entered in. He stopped the truck and hit the ground. He had grabbed another shirt to pull over his head so he could still breathe and the bees couldn't fill his mouth and nose. (They said they were so thick that if he wouldn't have done that, he probably wouldn't have made it.)

He did eventually drive away, but he was obviously very shaken up and had a lot of stings, especially on one arm. He is probably not able to move today.

It is like a bad nightmare!
