The Lessons They Teach Me

A few girls trooped toward the kitchen, bags in hand. "Amy, we went through our toys and decided we should give these to poor children." I looked in their beautiful, little faces and then inspected the bags, anticipating their junk. Instead, as they looked on with eager, shining eyes, I saw some of their best. Little Yaneli sleeps with a naked doll baby that is missing at least one limb and is almost bald. In a voice filled with passion at the injustice of life she proclaimed, "There are some kids out there who don't have any toys!"

"Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again." -Luke 6:38
