Last summer the spiders/tarantulas/scorpions were so thick I thought I was accustomed to them. I didn't like them, just stayed out of their way and we all lived happily ever after. They died in the winter...they could no longer phase us, right?
Tonight I heard the distant scream of Jenna.
Jenna: AAAAAAHHHHHHHH! Amy, did you hear me? There is the hugest spider in the kitchen!
Amy: Did you kill it!
Jenna: There is the biggest spider in the kitchen!
Amy: (Thinking to herself that she will rescue Jenna by killing the spider and entering the kitchen.) AAH! That is the hugest spider! What are we going to do!
Jenna: Aah! Aah!
Amy: I can't believe I am saying this, but we need a man! I will go to the boys dorm to see if someone will come and kill it! You stay here and guard the spider and your boys!
A few minutes later Joel enters the scene...

Joel: Give me the camera, I want to capture this moment.
Jenna: KILL IT! KILL IT! NO! NOT IN THE HOUSE!

Joel triumphantly reenters a few moments later
Joel: Do you want to see it?
Jenna and Amy: NO! Get it out!

Jenna: (Peering off the edge of the countertop) Joel! Look at that! Is that a mouse turd!
Joel does some research, decides it is not a mouse turd, but finds a few things of interest for the boys.

Andres found a gross worm on the floor and attacked it with a "whomp it" inflatable hammer. After many whomps the worm was still living.
Andres: Aaron! Go and get me another toy! Something harder!

The little worm was killed by the crocodile. Yes, the picture was taken from atop the kitchen counter.

Jenna worked up the courage to get off the counter and takes a picture with her little "rescuers." Good suggestion Twyla!

Spiders and lizards and worms, OH MY! Fun post Amy!
That smile on Joel's face speaks volumes:)

Very Funny! Amy, you have a talent to inform us in a very descriptive manner.
Question 1: Do Jenna's boys have clothes or just underwear and maybe a T-Shirt? :)
Question 2: Would a mouse have been a better option than a spider or a worse one?
Love you! Teresa
Amy, I'm so happy for you that you got a new camera!!
Wow! That spider does look huge! Maybe I'll stock up on some Raid before I come back...yuck! I have to agree with Mark & Barb about Joel's smile. And I'm glad that you have so many little boys to come to the rescue as well! I'm sure they loved it! It reminds me, Jenna, of last summer in the concha and how well you had them trained to kill bugs (and spiders)... "kill it! kill it!...again! stomp it! harder..!" ..a good thing, especially as the june bugs and other creepy crawlies come into season! :)
Love ya-
Carissa
see..isn't it the greatest to watch your "little men" come to the rescue!!? Joel looks pretty triumphant too! So glad you are well protected down there!!
Praying for all of you..twyla/art
Teresa,
1) Yes, the little boys have more than underwear, but anytime they come in the house, they usually take off their clothes. :) It really saves on laundry. I have some great boys painting in their underwear pics from today. ;)
2) I definitely think a mouse would be better. This spider was a large wolf spider and it was hairy, that always adds an extra element of scariness. It also had these gross feelers and can jump and run really fast...Definitely a mouse.

I think we should call JO-El
(Spider Man).. what do ya think
bash <><
I think SpiderMan works...or maybe "Tarantula Tamer"...
I love how Andres appointed himself official "worm-smasher." Way to take charge, what a great oldest brother.
Praise God we came to Magdalena when we did! I am so thankful we didn't encounter anything like that!
