God's Children

One day while talking on the phone to my mom, I was talking/whining about different situations here with the kids and she told me, "Amy, mothering isn't for the faint of heart." Amen, mama. On Mother's Day we had a great day, although we all greatly missed Gloria or "Mama Yoya" who is in Ixtlan for her sister's wedding. It was a day of reflection for a lot of the girls as they thought of their own moms, some deceased and others who just can't care for their kids right now. Okay, I have posted enough about the very bittersweet parts of Thursday, so I think it is time to do something a little lighter. :)

The morning started with the boys bringing me a gift. A picture frame. I love it because they picked it out for me, but it is UGLY. ;)

To fill the frame we took this picture.

The girls gave me the cowboy hat, that Timi thoroughly enjoyed wearing. (Sorry to ruin the surprise Glorieta!)

To "give me a break" the girls made lunch (under the supervision of the guys). We enjoyed PBJ, ramen noodles and watermelon.

We spent the afternoon in our theme park (i.e. the backyard). Jenean, look at those sunflowers girl!

The girls and little boys filtered back one by one and they just squished more into the pools.

The classic who-can-hold-their-breath-for-the-longest contest.

Eli runs the slip-and-slide.

Lili wasn't a very graceful slider as she continually ended up in the grass or in uncomfortable positions.

Diego poses for a picture while the girls yell, "Diego, move, it is our turn!"

Drying off on the swingset

Bill came into the kitchen and told me to go pick my present out of the bodega, "about 10 things." I rummaged around and then he took the gifts out for the girls to put in a box that they had written on and painted to match my room.

Holding the sacred box stuffed with specially chosen goodies...from myself. At least I got all my favorites.

Psalm 68:5-6a
A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation. God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains:

Happy Mother's Day Ames! (Why does it feel so weird to wish that to you?) You've learned bunches and bunches (of never ending galaxies) about being a Mom this past year! "Your kids" are adorable!

I love you,
Mom
