THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

I guess we all live and learn. Sunday night as I gave the big "it is Spring Break and we all need to behave and have fun" pep talk, I decided because anticipating a trip is half the fun, it would be a good time to announce the upcoming beach trip.

Yes, WE ARE GOING TO THE BEACH! The house that Mom and Dad rented when they were here is owned by a wonderful couple who offered their place at no cost to CVE. During their second week of Spring Break, the boys are going for two nights and then the girls for two nights.

After I told the girls about the beach, they had about a fifteen minute screaming festival. Many of them have never spent the night on any kind of beach or in a hotel. Every detail would bring more squeals of delight. It was a blast to tell them, except for now I wish I would have waited as at least once an hour one of the girls runs up and ask, "Now how many days?"

In general, the excitement has made the girls 118% giddy. I saw Karla and as I laughed I said, "Karla, how embarrassing" and with all the drama one little girl could muster, she said something along the lines of, "Amy, this isn't embarrassment, this is beauty in the heat."

It was explained to the girls that before we leave for the beach we MUST be lice free. Yesterday they set up their own station where each girl had to be checked (though I had just checked two days before) and the smell of lice-treatment shampoo was strong as each girl treated herself, just to be safe. :)

I asked the girls that we wait to pack until next Tuesday night. This didn't stop them from pulling out all their clothes to try and find the perfect clothes. Magda even wore her goggles a large chunk of the morning.

This is my reward for being the dramatic, excitable child that I was, huh? In reality, I am glad they are so enthusiastic. It makes me realize once again how much I can take for granted.

I like the nit picking party picture. That's a classic! Oh the joys of girls with long hair and head lice. YUCK! I've seen plenty of those critters.

Your comment of being an excitable child reminded me of the time you baby sat at our house and we came home to a very burnt bag of popcorn sitting outside our door and the only evidence left inside was the odor. Funny!

Have fun looking forward to the beach. Looking forward to something special is a fun part of it too.
