Where the Desert Meets the Sea

Mom, Dad, Grandma and Jeff arrived late on Monday night and we left for the Bahia de Kino on Tuesday. I have written about Bahia de Kino before, a small coastal fishing village, very little tourism, absolutely gorgeous, great investment opportunities, amazing/inexpensive seafood, etc...

Jeffy braves the waves. :)

Because Bahia de Kino isn't a tourist area, we couldn't find anyone to take Jeff fishing. We wandered around the fishing village and found a man with a small boat who agreed to take us out around the island. (No one had "standard" fishing equipment.) The men standing around helped push our vessel out to sea.

Mom looks out at the scenery. (This picture was taken minutes before we "braced ourselves" as the captain rammed us onto the beach, full speed ahead.) One of the men wanted dad to go diving for oysters with them. It was a pretty scary setup, no gear, just a hose, an old compression tank and an belt covered in heavy metal...Dad kindly declined...

Jeff kayaks off into the sunset. Actually, he didn't get very far against the current...

Of course dad cleans it off...

Joe, Denise and Janean joined us for a day and we had to go back to an "oyster farm." The servers routinely had to go to the water and pull out fresh seafood. (Which was served slimy and raw.)

A picture of the whole crew on the way back to Magdalena. YEAH FOR LAS CHULAS!

We had a great few days, tried some things we had never done before, ate great seafood and enjoyed our time. Only one thing could have been better...

P.S. To make up for my lack of recent post, I am going hard core this week! ;) So much to update on...

Please continue to pray for Magda as she is undergoing an MRI today and various other tests in Nogales as she still has not been herself since her recent head injury.
