A group or people showed up at our gates with a plethora of toys and had a "give and run" method of giving. They left after maybe 7 minutes max, and the kids had arms full of toys. Gloria asked them to give some toys that we could donate to needy children and Joel was "collecting" these toys.

Blanca peeks through amidst the lights.

The girls and I went on a "Christmas Light Tour" and afterwards, ate elotes in the Plazita. The light tour consisted of me driving towards any lights in the darkness, and gushing over any Christmas lights, even the basic strand of icicle lights. :)

Kids sitting in their normal perch in the kitchen window. They are usually full of questions and stories

The Bluffton World Relief Sewing Group sent down a huge shipments of hats and scarves that they made. Since it has been unusually cold, this will be especially appreciated! I can't believe how many layers I have been wearing! We are planning to distribute the hats and scarves at our Christmas Program on Sunday.

The girls look at the Nativity.
Tomorrow our Christmas festivities begin at 3:30 pm. The kids are getting so excited for Christmas, and most of the time I am also. Today Federico and I were working on making angel wings for the play on Sunday. Kids were everywhere, hot glue was burning my fingers, nothing was going right and I found myself saying, "out, out, out, out, unless you have a job, leave the kitchen, leave the dining room!" After a few more minutes of working, I was so frustrated with the project, I'll Be Home for Christmas once again blaring from the tocadora, the cookies that needed to still be baked for tomorrow's caroling, the Christmas cards I have yet to send out, and then I realized that I am just one BIG GRINCH. I just had to laugh as I realized that I had just squelched the very components that make up the Christmas Spirit, thoughts of baby Jesus, kids, love, talking, food, togetherness, Christmas pageants, etc. Instead of choosing to rejoice in tangled lights, I was frustrated. I think I finally understand being so busy with the preparations of Christmas, one can miss Christmas altogether.
And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. Luke 1:31-33

Hi Amy!
We sense a variety of emotions in your posting this time. You are happy to be there and are glad to be doing God's work - yet you are overwhelmed by all the responsibilities that come along with it. You are thankful to be sharing God's love to those you are around - yet you miss being home for the holidays. We are praying for you. God is faithful!
Love you,
The 4 T's
