Adventures with the chicas

Yesterday started our Christmas vacation and the boys headed out in the jungle and started to build a house of bamboo. (Pictures to come, supposedly AMAZING)

The girls headed out for an afternoon of adventure, exploring the uncharted areas of Magdalena. On Tuesday night, Gloria and I had gone to see Christmas lights and ended our night by exploring a gorgeous, never completed Catholic church. The church was started years ago, but never finished b/c of superstitions as a result of so many workers dying during construction. Needless to say, in the dark, I was scared out of my mind and I suggested we come back during the day.

The 12 of us drove to the outskirts of Magdalena and found the church. There were actually men working on it again, after all these years. I almost had a few heart attacks when Blanca couldn't stay away from the edge with her shoes untied. We realized that some of the girls were scared of heights and stayed close to the wall. The picture of Gloria in the circle window was taken immediately after she said, "Ok girls, never try this," and she proceeded to walk on a ledge over to the window. Asustame panteon.

Covered in dust, we headed to the plaza, where we proceeded to hit every area like a tornado. Everything is more fun with ten girls in tow. :)

Just in case anyone was wondering, I figured out the mystery of J.A.F. My guess: Jeff Andrew Fiechter of Ossian, IN. 10 years old. supercool. not very sneaky.
